Iran says there was “no pre-established agreement” on its response to Israel

No pre-arranged agreement was reached with any country before Iran's retaliatory strike against Israel, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Monday.

Iran launched hundreds of explosive missiles and drones on Saturday night in its first direct offensive into Israeli territory, a retaliatory strike that Tehran said was self-defense following the April 1 attack on its embassy compound in Damascus. , capital of Syria.

Regional officials, including Iran's foreign minister, said Tehran notified neighboring countries days before the attack.

However, Kanaani warned that no pre-arranged agreement was made with any country on how Tehran would approach its military response to Israel.

Kanaani reported that a Portuguese-flagged cargo ship, the MSC Aries, was seized on Saturday for “violating maritime laws,” adding that there was no doubt that the ship was linked to Israel.

Tensions have risen across the Middle East since the start of Israel's Gaza campaign last October, with Israel or its ally the United States in repeated clashes with Iran-aligned groups in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and in Yemen.
