Iran will respond to the invitation of US President Donald Trump for negotiations after proper analysis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday, accusing Washington not to correspond to shares with words.
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pezeshkian rejected Trump’s letter and public warnings for nuclear negotiations such as “misleading and intimidating.”
But Foreign Ministry spokesman Sobraeil Baghaei said a diplomatic response was underway.
“So far, we have no reason to publicize the letter (from Trump)… Our answer will be made through appropriate channels after full analysis,” said Baghaei.
The Iranian spokesman observed contradictory signs of Washington, who was expressing readiness for negotiations at the same time, in which he applied new sanctions to Tehran’s economy.
“Diplomatic negotiations have a label in which each side must recognize the interests of the other and, most importantly, believe in fulfilling their commitments,” the spokesman added during a televised press conference.
He continued to say that Americans “do not respect this and use the possibility of negotiations such as advertising and political tool.”
During his first term, Trump withdrew the US from a 2015 agreement between Iran and the main powers that had imposed boundaries rigid to his nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.
After Trump withdrew in 2018 and reimposed sanctions, Iran violated and greatly exceeded these limits on the development of its nuclear program.
Western powers accuse Iranians of seeking nuclear weapons enriching uranium with up to 60% purity, above what they consider justifiable for a civil program.
Tehran claims that the development of his nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and respects his commitments under international law.
