Iran: Talks on Iran’s nuclear program to resume on Thursday

Negotiations to bail out the Iran nuclear deal will resume on Thursday, following a pause earlier in the week, as the remaining parties to the agreement asked for time to consider the Iranian proposals, the visiting Iranian negotiator announced today. Moscow.

“I consider it necessary at this stage to consult with the Russian authorities in order to continue the negotiations in a constructive atmosphere on Thursday,” said Ali Bagheri, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, according to iribnews, a state television website.

The talks will resume normally on Thursday. “We hope, we think positively,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told the French Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Negotiations to rescue the Joint Integrated Action Plan (JAP), as the agreement is called, resumed on November 29th after a five-month hiatus and a re-suspension on Friday.

France said today that Tehran’s proposals “do not constitute a reasonable basis” for rescuing the deal, which is aimed at preventing Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

“The details of today’s repeated debate are not very encouraging,” said Jean-Yves Le Drian. “We have the feeling that the Iranians want to prolong (the debate) and the longer the debate lasts, the more they are backing away from the commitments they made under the CSD. “Now they are enriching at a rate of 20%, even 60%, and therefore they are closer to the ability to acquire a nuclear weapon.”

For his part, Bagheri said that his country’s proposals were “very useful and constructive initiatives that could advance the negotiation process.”
