The top leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei today ordered a “in -depth investigation” for the causes of the explosion in the largest port of Iran, which caused the deaths of at least 40 people and the injury of more than 1,000. “Safety and justice officials must conduct a thorough investigation in order to reveal any negligence or intention” that caused this explosion, Hamenei said in a statement. Iranian President Massoud Pezkian, who also ordered the start of an investigation, went to the port in the afternoon, where a fire was still raging, in order to express his “gratitude” to the emergency groups, according to images reported by public television.
