Iran warns UN on Trump’s threat and promises to defend itself

On Tuesday (11), Iran warned the UN to what it described as “reckless and inflammatory statements” of US President Donald Trump, threatening the use of strength, and warned that “any act of aggression will have severe consequences ”.

In a letter to the Reuters Safety Council, Iranian Ambassador at UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, referred to Trump’s comments in an interview with the New York Post newspaper and the Fox News broadcaster, in which he said he prefers to make an agreement to prevent Tehran from having a nuclear weapon of what bombing the country.

“These reckless and inflammatory statements are flagrantly violating international laws and the UN letter,” Iravani wrote to the board with 15 members.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran warns that any act of aggression will have severe consequences, for which the US will have full responsibility,” he said. “Iran will resolve its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests against any hostile action.”

Last week, Trump restored his “maximum pressure” campaign about Iran, which includes attempts to reset his oil exports to prevent Tehran from getting a nuclear weapon. He also said he is open to an agreement and expressed willingness to talk to the president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.

On Monday (10), Pezeshkian questioned the sincerity of the United States, while Iiravani wrote in his letter that US policy “reinforces coercive, illegal and unilateral measures and intensifies hostility against Iran.”

Iravani asked the UN Security Council to condemn Trump’s “blatant rhetoric”.
