Iranian Quds Force commander Mohammed Reza Zahedi was killed in Monday's incident, reported Fars News, which is run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

People gathered around the building in Syria's capital, according to photographs of the scene. Images of the explosion's aftermath, published by Iranian state media Press TV, showed extensive damage, fire and smoke at the site.

Speaking on camera to reporters in Damascus, Iranian Ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari claimed that the building, located next to the Iranian embassy, ​​“was targeted by six missiles from Israeli F-35 aircraft.”

According to Iran, five people were killed in the attack, including two high-ranking commanders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
