The Supreme Court of Iran upheld the conviction in death man found guilty of killing a soldier during the wave protests sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini after she was arrested by the moral police in September 2022.

“The death sentence of a person who had killed Revolutionary Guards officer Ali Nazari in October 2022 during the riots in Malagar (western Iran) was upheld by the Supreme Court,” the Iranian justice media outlet Mizan Online reported today without to name the culprit.

The justice upheld the death sentence in June of this person “under the law of retribution”. Seven men have been hanged so far after being convicted in cases linked to the wave of protests that broke out in Islamic Republic following the death of 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish Mahsha Amini after she was arrested by the morality police for violating the strict dress code imposed on women in Iran.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed in the protests, which Iranian authorities have described as “riots” orchestrated by Western countries.
