THE Ireland remains on track to further relax COVID-19 restrictions in early July with the reopening of restaurant and bar interiors despite its presence variant strain Delta of COVID-19, said today the Deputy Prime Minister Leo Varadkar. The country announced 284 new cases yesterday, one of the lowest daily reports this year. “I think when it comes to the Delta variant, there is definitely reason for concern, not panic at this stage. “We are still on track to further ease restrictions on July 5,” Varadkar told reporters ahead of a final decision on reopening later this week.
“We are on the way out of it, there will be some jolts on the road. “Vaccines will be the answer, but we need to monitor the situation closely for the next two weeks or so.” Ireland has recorded 269,321 cases of COVID-19 among its 4.9 million inhabitants, with 4,979 deaths.
