Irix introduced the Cine 30mm T1.5 lens. According to the manufacturer, it has expanded its line of full-frame cinematic lenses designed for cameras shooting Ultra HD 8K video. The Irix 30mm T1.5 uses a completely new optical design with thirteen elements in eleven groups, including three extra-low dispersion glass elements, two high reflectance elements and one aspherical element. This is said to have resulted in high detail clarity, vibrant colors and ultra-low distortion (0.95%).
The advantages of the lens include a pleasant blurring of the background and the possibility of smooth adjustment of light transmission in the range from T1.5 to T16, as well as the almost complete absence of the so-called “focus breathing” – the dependence of the focal length on the focusing distance.
The lens is designed for 86mm filters, and the control rings are serrated (Mod 0.8 M), which ensures compatibility with most accessories available on the market. This is the fifth model in the Irix Cine line, and they all feature the same travel of the focusing rings and aperture (except for the Irix 150mm T3.0 Macro 1: 1 model, which requires a longer travel of the focusing ring – 270 ° versus 180 °), due to which simplifies shooting with changing lenses.
The lens is equipped with a magnetic filter attachment system and is weatherproof, and its marking glows in UV rays, which greatly facilitates shooting in difficult lighting conditions.
The Irix Cine 30mm T1.5 lens will be available with seven of the industry’s most popular mounts: Canon EF, Arri PL-Mount, Canon RF, Sony E, MFT, Nikon Z and L-mount.
The lens is priced by the manufacturer at $ 1195 ($ 1295 for the PL-Mount version). In the US, sales have already begun.
