The police of the Irkutsk region discovered a mining farm illegally consuming electricity in cow pens and a garage on the territory of a peasant farm in the Angarsk district.

The police were able to seize 60 pieces of cryptocurrency mining equipment. The farm owner mined digital assets without concluding an electricity consumption contract. And he owed more than 2.5 million rubles for the light, the police said. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Causing property damage by deceit or breach of trust”.

Earlier, in the city of Shelekhovo, Irkutsk Region, a local electrician installed mining equipment in the attic of an ordinary secondary educational institution. The mining farm was discovered by employees of the energy sales company. Power engineers wondered why the school’s electricity consumption had suddenly doubled. During the inspection of metering devices, specialists heard the characteristic noise of equipment above the ceiling and called the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Last week, Rosseti North Caucasus specialists discovered a large mining farm in the Shpakovsky district of the Stavropol Territory. Together with law enforcement officers, 66 ASIC miners were seized.
