Common in Brazilian homes, the gas cylinder is an object that demands a lot of technology and care in its manufacturing process. Manual do Mundo visited a factory in Três Corações, Minas Gerais, to understand all the technology involved.
Also known as a plug, the pressure vessel has to be extremely safe, after all, there is a highly flammable gas inside, LPG, liquefied petroleum gas. As part of the safety process, the container is heated up to 650ºC to reorganize the structure’s steel and eliminate tension points from the welds between the pieces.
To ensure that the annealing works, some safety tests are carried out, including the rupture test, in which the cylinder is subjected to extreme pressure until it literally explodes.
Check out the entire gas cylinder manufacturing process and be surprised.
