Is it difficult to be a vegetarian? Hypnosis arrives to free oneself from “addiction to meat”

The number of vegetarians and vegans multiplies from year to year: according to the latest Eurispes report in Italy alone they are the8% of the population. By now one in 10 people have given up on meat, and at the same time the number of those who reduce it to conduct a diet is growing «Flexitariana». The first reason is health because excessive consumption of meat (red species) can contribute to chronic diseases such as cancer, then there is the environment since factory farming requires precious soil and is a major cause of global warming, and then – last but not least – animal welfare. Why then stay a grotto slice of the world population that does not give up on steak?

According to the Swedish company Raging Pig (which literally means “furious pig”) producer of vegetable meat such as bacon made with soy, the explanation is one: we are addicted to it because, as he writes on his website, “from childhood, we have been taught (or, honestly, we have been led to believe) that, regardless of the circumstances we need to eat meat“. For this reason Raging Pig has developed a hypnosis program which promises to free us from “meat addiction” and to “reset our brains.”

A provocation? Maybe, given that the company has built its identity on this: its own “Testimonial” is a man with the face of a pig, happy because he is not eaten and because in his laboratory he prepares succulent “steaks” that do no harm to anyone. Then the program is certainly also a (nice) publicity stunt, but it’s serious. It was developed with an expert, the Swedish hypnotherapist Anna-Maj Velander, and has ambitious goals: wants to involve the world and for this the therapy can be done online simply by listening to podcasts – on Spotify and Apple podcasts – free.

It consists of three sessions of about 20 minutes each: the first is called «Connecting» and it is an invitation to relax and get in harmony with animals to sensitize not to eat them. The second is called «Discovering» and tells where the meat comes from and the consequences of its production (but closing with the hope of a better future), and the third is called «Reconciliation» and it is an invitation to put the dots together, take a journey through time and imagine a better future.

Three steps, which are not only for omnivores: Raging Pig invites everyone to try and possibly repeat the listening. It works? Whoever launched the program tells that those who followed him with conviction significantly reduced their consumption of meat. Let’s try?
