Dell has decided to ditch the Microsoft Pluton security processor.
A company spokesperson told the source that Pluton is not in line with Dell’s approach to hardware security. However, the company added that, as is the case with all new technologies, Dell will continue to evaluate Pluton to compare it with existing TPM implementations in the future. That is, in the end, the development of Microsoft in a Dell PC can still appear, but not at all necessary.
Whether this means that Dell won’t release a single laptop based on the latest Ryzen 6000 APUs is unclear. Recall that these processors were the first to receive Pluton, but AMD has already said that this block can be disabled in the new APUs.
Dell is the second company to announce that it is phasing out Pluton, at least for now. Lenovo was the first, but it stipulated that this security processor be dropped only for ThinkPad PCs based on Intel processors. That is, we are talking about the fact that no one will additionally install Pluton in such PCs, but it is not in Intel processors.
