Is the perfect man in South Korea? The lies that k-dramas tell

“Round 6” is a Korean production that was very successful and won important awards, such as Emmy and Golden Globe. But if your experience with Korean dramas is limited to a game full of blood and violence, know that romantic comedies have many fans around the world.

They are ‘slow burn’ novels, that is, where you slowly follow the protagonists’ love story. The first kiss takes so long to happen that the simple touch of hands already leaves the viewer in the clouds.

But what really stands out are the male characters, such as those in the dramas “Landing in Love”, “Goblin” and “Vinte e Cinco, Vinte e Um”. Because of the Korean wave – the so-called “hallyu” – Korean productions are increasingly famous, and this has made women on this side of the globe believe that real-life men are just like those on screen.

Because of this, many foreigners pack their bags and go to Seoul with the dream of meeting the ‘bae’ of life, but, when they get there, they are faced with a harsh reality: you don’t date someone just because of your nationality.

In an interview with K-Tudo CNN Soft, youtubers Amanda and Marcella, from Oh My Friend!, shared a little of the experience they have for living in South Korea for years. When asked if, after all, K-drama men do exist, they were emphatic: “No!”.

In the interview, Amanda and Marcella stressed how dangerous it is to go to South Korea just thinking about it. After all, nowadays Koreans know about this ‘boom’ of foreigners who want to date them.

“You can find the best Korean, who will treat you right. Or you will find the Korean with whom you can have an abusive relationship, who will take advantage of you”, warns Amanda.
