Is there a perfect post-pandemic office look? According to Giles Deacon, yes

After almost a year and a half of work not in presence due to the health situation, more and more companies are adapting to a new hybrid model: partly from home, partly in the office. Of course, there are also many realities that have opened up to possibility of working 100% remotely, but in recent weeks, thousands of workers – at least for a few days a week – are planning to return to the corporate headquarters or have already begun to go to coworking again.

But how has it changed in the meantime the relationship between clothing and office life? The fashion trends of the last 18 months tell us a lot about it, but there are also those who wanted to create a real capsule collection that reflects the new needs of comfort: this is the latest collaboration of Giles Deacon with IWG, the world’s largest player in flexible workspaces.

Despite the obvious transition to greater flexibility, the office appears to be set to perform one more key role in post-pandemic working life: IWG has in fact collected Wi-Fi access data in its offices since the beginning of January, recording a 50% increase. A glimpse towards a new-found normality, which is however followed by a different relationship with the dress code. Hence the fashion collaboration with Giles Deacon, who conceived a collection of post-pandemic office outfit, in which elegance and formality are expressed by soft tailored cuts. The intent is to combine the formality that distinguishes an environment such as the office, with the comfort that characterized the lockdown period.

The capsule collection was in fact born from an analysis by what workers want in terms of fashion, including the designer’s visits to IWG offices: on the one hand, the desire to return to playing with clothing, making new style choices and enhancing oneself, and on the other hand no longer wanting to be forced into stiff and unwelcoming clothes. Here, then, that Giles Deacon combines, in male, female and unisex looks, captivating silhouettes and fluid cuts, with completely organic fabrics: poplin, soft fine corduroy, compact wool and cotton jersey. A move away from the most commonly worn office clothing materials in the pre-lockdown period, with the aim of incentivising workers to choose your work wardrobe more consciously, by purchasing sustainable and durable garments. The color palettes range from classic black and white to a wider palette, made up of anthracite grays, navy, browns, khaki and brighter shades such as blue: “Each color and fabric has been selected to convey, calm, confidence and determination to whoever wears it, everywhere ”, declared the designer. Feeling fabulous and productive is therefore possible, with a touch of (by now) indispensable «cozyness».
