Is Venom from the Spider-Man universe? Discover the origin of the character

The third and final film in the franchise “Venom” titled “The Last Round” hits Brazilian cinemas this Thursday (24). The Marvel Comics character is played on the big screen by the British actor Tom Hardy 47.

Despite being from the same universe as Spider-Man, on the big screen, the alien is not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The films were released under the Sony Pictures label.

Discover the origin of Venom

The character is a Spider-Man huge distortion the result of a symbiote alien fused with a human named Eddie Brock, who holds a bitter grudge against Peter Parker. These beings fuse with the hosts, and the combined entity tends to have a personality based on both the symbiote and the host itself, although sometimes one side or the other tends to dominate.

One symbiote in particular accidentally ended up part of the Battleworld setting, an alien world created by the Beyonder to test heroes and villains against each other, including Peter Parker. After a battle, Spider-Man’s suit was torn to pieces, and his ally Thor mentioned a device that restored the fabric.

Instead, Spider-Man inadvertently used a different device, which freed the symbiote. He immediately bonded with Spider-Man, providing him with a sleek black costume and notable new abilities.

Venom at the movies

Eddie Brock/Venom’s first appearance in theaters was in “Spider-Man 3“ in 2007, showing the origin of the character. On this occasion, he is played by Topher Grace.

More than a decade later, the alien returned to the big screen with a solo film starring Tom Hardy. In total, there are three films.
