The Board of Directors of the ISA, in the framework of its meeting yesterday, discussed the issue of the labor relations of the doctors of the public health system and unanimously expressed the opinion that the doctors of the NHS produce a particularly important work, in difficult conditions and should be paid according to the state.
ISA calls for better pay for NHS doctors and makes it clear that it is opposed to any discussion of their further employment to supplement their salary, which is the sole responsibility of the state, within the public health system.
“We ask for immediate recruitment and staffing of the departments of the hospitals that operate with much less than the necessary staff. That the doctors of the National Health Service be given salaries that guarantee them a decent standard of living, as well as the means to maintain the scientific their competence and the unhindered continuation of their educational work. The overworked conditions in public hospitals make it particularly difficult to pass on knowledge to the young doctors who will be called to staff the new NHS”, reports the Association.
He adds that “the lack of specialists and doctors of specific specialties, which is already causing serious dysfunctions, is going to increase if decent wages and working conditions are not ensured so that young doctors stay in our country and staff the public health system. We ask for a strong National Health System which will ensure decent wages and working conditions for the doctors who selflessly serve it”.
