Islamic scholar: “digital currency should be legalized”

Mufti Irshad Ahmad Ijaz, chairman of the Shariah Advisory Council of the Islamic Bank, expressed the opinion that digital currency should be legalized under certain conditions.

During his speech at the seminar “Technical and Sharia Status of Digital Currencies” held last week in Pakistan, Islamic scholar Mufti Irshad Ahmad Ijaz stated that cryptocurrency is not a fictitious currency.

He believes that the level of research is always much higher than the level of laws. Therefore, scientists should continue to study certain areas and share their findings. Ijaz noted that cryptocurrencies have a huge range of applications, and governments can help this industry develop properly.

The colleague was supported by Dr. Ishaq Alam. Speaking at the seminar, he stated that the world is now rapidly moving towards the adoption of cryptocurrencies and more efforts should be made to keep up with other countries. Scholars have also highlighted the need for more research on digital currencies.

Recall that in early February, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia (MCIT) acted as the founder of the blockchain academy as part of a national project for the development of human capital.
