The so-called active cases of the new coronavirus in Israel fell yesterday Monday to 27,477 (-2,833 in 24 hours), a level that is the lowest this year, the Ministry of Health announced.
The ministry also said that 3,759 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been confirmed in the past 24 hours, and that no patients had succumbed to COVID-19 complications.
The pandemic death toll stands at 10,670 dead out of a total of 4,060,259 infections.
As COVID-19 mortality receded, authorities on Saturday abolished compulsory mask use in several enclosed spaces, although they still recommend it to people belonging to so-called high-risk groups. The use of the mask remains mandatory in hospitals and clinics, in nursing homes, as well as in international passenger flights.
