Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz recommended this Sunday (2) that the country's citizens avoid the Maldives after the island's government banned the entry of Israeli visitors.
Katz said the restriction also applies to people with dual citizenship.
“For Israeli citizens already in the country [Maldivas]it is recommended that you consider leaving it, because once you find yourself in any kind of problem, it will be difficult for us to provide assistance,” said the chancellor.
The Maldivian government decided to ban Israeli citizens from entering the country due to the war in Gaza.
The archipelago's population is predominantly Muslim and public discontent has been growing towards Israel as the war continues.
The Asian country's government decided to change laws to prevent Israeli passport holders from entering the country and establish a subcommittee to oversee the process.
