Israel hit targets in Yemen on Monday night (5) at the local time, the Israeli army said, a day after the Iran-backed Houthis, fired a ballistic missile that hit the main Israeli airport.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to retaliate at the moment and place chosen by Israel and promised on Sunday that a forceful response would be given.
These attacks mark the first Israeli attacks in Yemen in months and left at least 21 injured, according to the Houthis Ministry of Health.
Israel’s defense forces (IDF) said the attacks targeted the Hodeidah port and neighboring areas. Dozens of targets were hit, with about 20 fighters participating in the mission, the army said.
“Hodeidah’s sea port is used for the transfer of Iranian weapons, military equipment and other terrorism -related needs,” IDF said in a statement. Israeli fighters also attacked an east of Hodeidah cement factory for its use in the construction of tunnels and military infrastructure, IDF said.
The Al-Masirah TV channel, run by Houthis, said the Hodeidah port was hit six times, and confirms the attack on the Bajil cement factory, east of Hodeidah.
The Israeli army made several attempts to intercept the ballistic missile fired at Tel Aviv on Sunday, but failed to overthrow it, resulting in a successful attack on the strongly defended installation. The attack seems to have been the first time Israel’s International Airport has been the group of the group.
On Sunday night, the rebel group supported by Iran said it “would impose a comprehensive air block” to Israel, “repeatedly reaching airports,” especially Ben Gurion. He appealed to international airlines to properly plan and cancel all scheduled flights to Israeli airports.

Netanyahu summoned Israel’s security office on Sunday afternoon to discuss the case.
“We act before and we will act in the future too,” said Netanyahu in a video posted on social networks. “I can’t delve into all this. The US, in coordination with us, are also operating against them. It’s not definitive,” he said.
Israel has released several rounds of attacks on Houthis in Yemen, including attacks on a nuclear plant and sea ports in January.
The US military has made much broader attacks on youth targets in recent months to weaken the group and interrupt Houthi attacks against US Navy ships and commercial vessels operating in the Middle East.
But the attacks have made little to contain the release of Houthi projectiles against Israel or against American war ships in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandeb, two of the world’s most important waterways.
The Houthis launched Ballistic missiles against Israel for three consecutive days, culminating in the attack that hit the airport. Last week, an American F/A-18 fighter fell from a red-sea aircraft carrier after the ship made a closed curve to escape a Hurti attack.
“The whole world is being challenged by the Houthis,” Netanyahu told Cypriot President Nikos Christodoudiles on Sunday. “We won’t tolerate this. We’ll take very firm action against them. And we always remember that they act under the direction and support of their patron, Iran.”
The Houthis warned on Sunday night that they could attack again and “would impose a comprehensive air block” to Israel, “repeatedly reaching airports,” especially Ben Gurion.
The government has asked international airlines to properly plan and cancel all scheduled flights to Israeli airports.
