Israel believes there are 173 people still held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. The information was released by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office this Tuesday (28).
Of those kidnapped, 17 are foreigners and the rest are Israeli citizens.
The Israeli hostages include six minor children. The Hostage and Missing Families Forum believes there are also three 18-year-olds in detention.
Israel notified families of hostages
Israeli authorities notified the families of 10 hostages who are on the list of people who should be released this Tuesday (28), according to reports from relatives to CNN.
A spokesman for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed to CNN that there are 10 names on today’s list.
“Israel has received another list of hostages, ten hostages, who we potentially hope to see released by Hamas,” said spokesman Tal Heinrich.
Heinrich reported that Israel also had a list of Palestinian prisoners that they had agreed to release in exchange, and that for every group of ten Hamas hostages released, Israel would extend the truce for an additional day.
