Israel’s ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Zonshine, declared in an interview with CNN that Israel cannot accept the exchange of fire with Hezbollah. Zonshine emphasized the seriousness of the situation and the tragic consequences of the attacks.
According to the ambassador, when Israel tries to prevent Hezbollah’s missile launches, unfortunately there are victims, including young Brazilians and other people not involved in the conflict. He lamented: “Hezbollah’s choice to act against Israel results in sad consequences, as we see here.”
Hezbollah classification
Zonshine was emphatic in characterizing Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, regardless of its classification by the United Nations. He cited historical attacks attributed to the group: “In 1983, they killed dozens of Americans in Beirut, they killed dozens of Argentines in the 90s in Buenos Aires and they killed other people.”
The ambassador stressed that Israel cannot continue to accept this type of exchange of fire. He expressed hope that a ceasefire would be reached quickly and with less damage to both sides.
Zonshine also drew attention to the damage and influences of the conflict on the Israeli side, which often do not receive as much media attention. He concluded by stating that ‘influence is on two sides of the border’, highlighting the conflict’s far-reaching impact on the region.
