Israel destroyed more than 40% of homes in Gaza, says Palestinian UN ambassador

The Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, said that Israel destroyed 40% of all homes in Gaza and made an entire population homeless and displaced.

At the general assembly this Thursday (26), Mansour said that Israel had forced the displacement of more than 1.4 million Palestinians in an attempt to transfer them out of the Gaza Strip.

He cited a statement from Israel’s foreign minister who said Palestinians should return home after the end of the conflict. Mansour added: “There is no more home to return to. For thousands, there is no longer a family to hug. Not by a divine act, but by the act of a government that is represented here in this chamber.”

“He [o ministro de Relações Exteriores de Israel] told you how terrible it is to kill civilians, then justified the deaths of thousands of civilians [palestinos]. He spoke about the fear of hearing the bombs, but the Israeli bombs did not spare a single square meter of Gaza”, said the Palestinian ambassador.

“He believes that the difference between civilization and barbarism is who is killing or how they are killing. He believes that humanity and international law apply to others, but not to Israel,” he added.
