Israel: Establishment of vaccination centers in schools in view of the beginning of the school year

The Israel announced the installation of vaccination centers in schools to boost the immunity of younger children, while the epidemic is re-igniting in the country that has introduced the vaccination of children over 12 years against Covid-19, according to APE.

The students “will be vaccinated in schools during school hours, subject to parental leave,” the Israeli government said, keeping the start of the school year on September 1st.

Students under the age of 12 must show parental permission to take a diagnostic test.

In areas where there is an increased number of cases, high school classrooms will function normally if 70% of students have been vaccinated. Otherwise, the lessons will take place remotely.

Israel is experiencing a resurgence of the epidemic due to the Delta variant, as it was one of the first countries to launch a large-scale vaccination campaign as early as December, and in the summer began a third, booster dose of the vaccine to those over 40 years of age.

About 30% of 12-15 year olds have received two doses of the vaccine, a lower rate than other age groups.

Israel has also launched a test campaign on children over the age of 3 to see if they have developed antibodies before the start of the school year and to see if they have been screened.

Children who have developed adequate antibodies will not have to be isolated if they come in contact with a case, thus reducing problems in school operation.
