Israel has killed “more than 2,000 terrorists” in Gaza since the end of the truce, military say

Ground operations conducted by Israeli forces have killed “more than 2,000 terrorists” since fighting resumed on December 1, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Thursday ( 21).

Hagari stated at a press conference that the IDF also “demolished a strategic network of terrorist tunnels in a neighborhood in the heart of Gaza City” on Monday (18), an important action for the “dismantling of the strategic capacity” of Hamas.

A CNN cannot independently verify the Israel Defense Forces’ claims.

The military resumed the offensive in Gaza after the end of a seven-day truce, a period in which there were exchanges of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners and detainees.

Israel is facing international pressure to more clearly define its objectives in the Gaza Strip and reduce the growing number of civilian deaths in the territory.

About 20,000 people have been killed by Israeli strikes in Gaza since the Hamas strikes on Oct. 7 and the subsequent Israeli offensive, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Ramallah. A CNN could not independently verify the number.
