Firefighters are battling the blaze in a wood-burning fire outside Jerusalem, with authorities evacuating several small towns as planes and firefighters try to put out the blaze for a second day.
The fiery front, about 10 miles[10 km]west of Jerusalem, caused clouds of smoke to rise eastward, reaching over the city. First aid services reported that some people received care because they inhaled smoke, but there were no serious injuries.
The Israeli Fire and Rescue Authority announced that 75 crews and 10 aircraft are trying to extinguish the fire, which according to the country’s Interior Minister, burned about 170,000 acres yesterday, forcing hundreds of people to evacuate their homes.
Other evacuations took place yesterday, as the Israeli Fire and Rescue Authority wrote on Twitter, while others have been given evacuation orders.
At the same time, Israeli media are reporting that Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is considering seeking international help for the fires.
