Israel asked, this Saturday (11), residents of areas further east of Rafah, in the Gaza Strip, to leave the region.
According to a post from the Arab military spokesman, the guidance is that people go to the “expanded humanitarian area” in Al-Mawasi.
Last Thursday (9), according to an Israeli official, the Israeli security cabinet approved the “expansion of the area of operation” in the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip.
This comes after United States President Joe Biden threatened to withhold the shipment of some weapons if Israel carries out a major offensive in the city.
The approval is a way for the cabinet to express support for expanding military operations in Rafah and authorizes the Israeli war cabinet to continue making military decisions in the country without further consultation with the security cabinet.
