The three victims of the attack are 44-year-old Jonathan Habakkuk and 49-year-old Boaz Gol, both residents of Greece, as well as 35-year-old Oren Bin Giftah, a resident of Lod.
The Palestinian Islamist movements Hamas and Islamic Jihad “celebrated” this “heroic” attack, calling it a “reaction” to the recent tensions in Jerusalem, but did not claim responsibility for it.
For his part, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the “killing of Israeli civilians”, saying “the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians is exacerbating the situation,” according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gandz announced a blockade until Sunday of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in order to “prevent terrorists from escaping” to these areas.
The attack in Greece brings to 18 the number of people killed in anti-Israeli attacks since March 22, some of whom were committed by Israeli Arabs and others by Palestinians.
