Israel publishes names of 95 Palestinians to be released – Deep division in Netanyahu’s government

Israeli authorities today released the names of 95 Palestinian prisoners – most of them women and minors – who could be released as early as Sunday in the first exchange of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. “The release of the prisoners (…) will not take place before 16:00 on Sunday” the Ministry of Justice said. Israel’s security cabinet has given the green light to a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which will also have to be approved by the Israeli government. The agreement initially provides for the release of 33 Israeli hostages and the release of several hundred Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
