LAST UPDATE: 11:39
Palestinian fighters in Gaza fired two rockets into the sea today, causing an explosion off the coast of Tel Aviv, the Israeli army said.
Police said there were no casualties or damage.
There has been no immediate word from Gaza militant groups or Hamas, the Islamic State militant group, which is in control of the Palestinian enclave.
Hamas has occasionally tested rockets by launching them into the sea.
The Hamas-affiliated news website Paltimes, however, said the rocket launch was deliberate and possibly due to a malfunction.
After the 11-day war in May, the situation on the Israeli-Gaza border is largely calm. Nevertheless, on Wednesday, December 29, fire from Gaza, which injured an Israeli civilian, led to the firing of Israeli tanks, injuring three Palestinians.
