Israel announced that it will not block the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza from Egypt in a statement released this Wednesday (18) by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
However, the statement reinforces that Israel will not allow supplies to enter Gaza across the border with its own territory until Hamas releases all hostages.
“In light of President Biden’s demand, Israel will not block deliveries of humanitarian aid as long as it consists of water, food and medicine to the civilian population in the southern Gaza Strip… and as long as the aid does not reach Hamas,” it said the statement.
The statement was made shortly after US President Joe Biden said that Israel had agreed to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, on the condition that there be inspections to ensure that the supplies were not diverted or stolen by Hamas.
