The Israeli military says its operation near Al-Shifa hospital, in northern Gaza, continues for a fourth day.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that, together with troops from the Israel Security Agency (ISA), they are “continuing to conduct precise operational activities at Al-Shifa hospital.”
The Israeli army claimed to have “eliminated” more than 50 people it described as “terrorists” in the last day, and more than 140 since the start of the operation on Monday (18), and also claimed to have found weapons caches in the hospital .
A CNN asked the IDF for details about the people it said it killed or detained during its operation in Al-Shifa on Wednesday (20), and has not yet received a response.
Little information is emerging from the hospital complex, where hundreds of people are believed to still be trapped. Many others fled the immediate area.
Eyewitnesses at the hospital told the CNN that Israeli forces detained Palestinian journalists and health workers, blindfolded them, and stripped them down to their underwear in the compound.
Palestinian reporters and hospital staff described scenes of humiliating interrogations in which colleagues were stripped naked and left outside in the cold after the IDF besieged the enclave's largest hospital in the early hours of Monday. A man who was detained told the CNN that Israeli forces released him without identification documents or cell phone.
The IDF says its operations continue in central Gaza and northern Khan Younis.
