Israel, the parents of Laor, 20 years old, killed at the rave party: “Our son disappeared into thin air”

Laor Itzhak, 20 years old, a 1.95 meter tall Israeli boy with smiling eyes and brown curls, never returned home after the rave party in which more than 260 kids died, killed by Hamas terrorists. The war started from therefrom Reim, from that terrible attack launched at 6.30 in the morning with rockets and a land incursion.

Laor’s mother, Michal Haley, and father, musician Darwish, They’ve spent the last week desperately searching for some information to be able to find it again. I had contacted them to collect their testimony about the brutal attack in which they lost track of their son and I was waiting for an appointment to speak to them. Yesterday, however, a chilling message arrived: «Unfortunately we have been informed of the death of our son in the monstrous terrorist attack.”

In recent days, the couple has called, sent messages, written emails to the authorities and tried to contact the parents of the other missing children. Laor Itzhak’s name did not appear in the lists of the wounded taken to hospital, nor in those of the victims. «Not knowing anything about your child anymore is hard, very, very hard», Darwish said in a desperate appeal to the microphones of the CNN.

Laor was a “wonderful son”, a “gentle giant loved by all who knew him”, as his mother defines him, with an “enchanting smile”. His dream was to become a DJ, like his father, he loved being in nature with his friends and celebrating life. On the evening of the rave party “he had just gone out to have fun, in this crazy world we live in”, “just like young people should be able to do”. Mum and dad struggle to imagine how a moment of joy may have suddenly turned into the most “crazy horror movie”, something that “none of us ever dreamed would ever happen.” “How can you,” the parents ask, “imagine someone doing something like that to someone else?”
