Israel: Top Islamic Jihad official killed in Gaza Strip airstrike

Top military leaders of Islamic Jihad have been “neutralized” over the past two days during raids launched by the Israeli army in Gaza Stripaccording to the head of the business.

“Senior leadership of Islamic Jihad’s military wing in Gaza has been neutralized”said Oded Basiok, chief of operations of the Israeli army (IDF) to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

As the Times of Israel website reports, on Saturday night Khalid Mansour was killed in an airstrike in Rafah. He was allegedly the commander of Islamic Jihad in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

It is recalled that Taysir Jabari, the alleged head of Islamic Jihad in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, had died on Friday.

The previous week, the Israeli army had arrested a leading figure of the Palestinian organization in the West Bank.

At least 24 Palestinians, including six children, were killed and another 203 injured during Israeli attacks in the past 48 hoursaccording to the Gaza Ministry of Health.

Conversely, Palestinian militants fired more than 400 rockets at Israel – most of which were intercepted – setting off air raid sirens and forcing many residents to run for shelter. There were no reports of casualties from Israeli authorities.

Mansoor’s death has been confirmed

Islamic Jihad has confirmed that one of its leaders was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip.

“The Al Quds Brigades are mourning their leader Khalid Mansour, member of the security council and commander of the southern sector (of the Gaza Strip) who became a ‘martyr’ as a result of an Israeli airstrike yesterday (Saturday).”the Palestinian organization said in a statement.

The Al Quds Brigades are the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization.
