Israel: US tourists pick up a grenade as a souvenir – Panic at Tel Aviv airport

U.S. tourists panicked at Tel Aviv’s David-Ben-Gurion Airport when officials discovered an unexploded ordnance in their luggage that they intended to take home as a holiday souvenir.

Airport security officials immediately ordered the luggage control area to be evacuated after the shelling was located on Thursday, according to the Israeli airport management service (IAA).

The announcement caused panic among the passengers who were gathered in the departure hall. In a video posted on social networking sites, people are seen running in all directions to get away from the shell. One passenger was injured and had to be taken to hospital.

According to the IAA, one of the children of the American family found and picked up the shell while walking in the Golan Heights. This zone, which has been annexed by Israel, was the scene of fierce battles with Syria in the 1967 and 1973 wars.

The American tourists finally managed to travel to return home.
