At least 17 journalists have been killed since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7. In addition, at least eight journalists were also injured and three are missing or detained, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CJP).
Of the professionals who died, 13 were Palestinians, three were Israelis and one was Lebanese, according to CPJ, which monitors the growing number of deaths in the press related to the ongoing conflict.

“CPJ is also investigating unconfirmed reports of additional journalists being killed, missing, detained, injured or threatened, and of damage to media offices and journalists’ homes,” the press freedom group highlighted.
CPJ said it compiled the information from its own sources in the region and from social media reports.
“Journalists across the region are making great sacrifices to cover this painful conflict,” said Sherif Mansour, CPJ Middle East and North Africa program coordinator.
“All parties must take measures to ensure their safety,” he warned.
The Committee to Protect Journalists is releasing the names and circumstances of the journalists’ deaths through their website.
