Israel: We will not accept a deal that leaves Hamas in power in the Gaza Strip

The Israel will not agree to a ceasefire with the Hamas which leaves prisoners the hostages in Gaza Strip or the Palestinian movement in power in the Palestinian enclave, Israeli government spokesman Eilon Levi said today.

The Israeli official emphasized that efforts to free the hostages continuebut declined to elaborate, saying only that lives hang in the balance.

Asked about publications for a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, Levi noted that the goals of the war remained unchanged: “the destruction of Hamas' military and governmental capabilities in the Gaza Strip and the return of all hostages. There will be no ceasefire that leaves the hostages in the Gaza Strip and Hamas in power.”he said.

“Beyond that, we have nothing more to say,” he added.

As APE-MPE reminds, yesterday's publication by the American news website Axios, stated that Israel proposed to Hamas, through the mediators of Qatar and Egypt, to have a two-month pause in the fighting and the bombing of the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of all hostages.
