Israeli army bulldozers at the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip

The Health Ministry of the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip announced today that the Israeli army deployed bulldozers at Al Shifa Hospitalwhich he says may be used for military purposes by the Palestinian Islamist movement. “Israeli bulldozers destroyed parts of the southern entrance” of the health centerthe ministry said in a terse statement in Arabic.

Asked about this by AFP, a representative of the Israeli army said that an operation is underway at the hospital.

“Tonight we are conducting a targeted operation at Sifa Hospital. We continue to move forward,” Lt. Gen. Yaron Finkelman, head of the forces conducting operations in the Gaza Strip, said via Telegram.

Chahal, the Israeli army, also conducted an operation at the largest hospital in Gaza, before announcing that it was withdrawing its troops and tanks, amid intense international concern and criticism.

According to the UN, at least 2,300 people, patients, medical staff and displaced persons, are in the building complex.

Breaking his silence for the first time since the outbreak of the Israel/Hamas war, the United Nations Security Council asked yesterday “pauses” and “humanitarian corridors” in the Gaza Strip, as reported by AFP and relayed by the Athens News Agency.

The Israeli army accuses Hamas of using Shifa as a base and argues that its operations there are a major stage of the war, despite the categorical denials of the other side.

An AFP correspondent saw Israeli forces redeploying around the hospital yesterday.
