Israeli army releases video of tunnel where six hostages were allegedly found

The Israeli army released a video on Wednesday (4) showing the tunnel where the bodies of six hostages were allegedly recovered in Gaza last weekend.

On Sunday (1st), Israeli army spokesman Rear Daniel Hagari said that six bodies had been recovered from a tunnel south of Gaza. According to him, the victims apparently were killed shortly before Israeli troops arrived at the scene.

The army said in a statement on Wednesday that the shaft leading to the tunnel was “located near stuffed toys and paintings of cartoon characters in a children’s play area”.

Reuters was unable to independently verify the location or date the videos were taken.

Hamas has yet to comment on the allegations.

The war began when the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostages, according to Israeli records.

At least 40,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 94,000 injured in Israel’s military offensives in the Gaza Strip since October 7, according to a statement from the enclave’s Health Ministry on Wednesday.

Almost the entire population of Gaza has been displaced amid the new Israeli offensive
