Israeli attack destroys and completely disables airport in Yemen

Israel hit several places from Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, on Tuesday (6), including the main airport, which, according to the Israeli army, was “totally” disabled.

“Soon, fighters from the Israeli Defense Forces (FDI) hit and destroyed the Houthi terrorist infrastructure at Sanaa’s main airport, completely disabled the site,” the Israeli army said in a statement, adding that several major energy plants in the capital were also hit.

Defense forces said fighters “dismantled” the airport in 15 minutes and reached a concrete factory.

At least one person died and three others were injured in the attack, according to the Houthis Ministry of Health.

The Israeli army previously issued an evacuation alert to the airport, marking the first time that the defense forces issued such a notification in Yemen, more than 1,600 kilometers from Israel.

Rebel leader Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti promised retaliation against the Israelis, saying to TV Al Arabiya: “We will face climbing with climbing, and there are multiple targets within the Zionist entity, sensitive targets, which will cost great losses.”

HOUTHHI ATTACK IN ISRAEL

Tuesday (6) attacks mark a significant escalation between the Hethis, supported by Iran, and the Israeli military, who has rapidly intensified in recent days.

On Sunday (4), a Hrathis ballistic missile penetrated Israeli air defenses and reached an area near Ben Gurion International Airport, after several attempts at failed interception, FDI said.

The attack seems to be the first time Israeli International Airport has been a successful target of the group.

The Houthis took responsibility for the attack, stating that it was an answer to the Israeli offensive in Gaza, and warned that he “would imply a comprehensive air block” to Israel, “repeatedly reaching airports”, especially Ben Gurion.

The group has also appealed to international airlines to properly plan and cancel all scheduled flights to Israeli airports.

Israel’s last attack against Sanaa International Airport took place in December, killing at least three people and injuring another 30, according to Al-Masirah television network.

Answer of the Israeli Prime Minister

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised retaliation against the onslaught.

“We act before, we will act in the future either. I can’t detail it all. The US, in coordination with us, are also operating against them. It’s not a unique thing, but there will be attacks,” he said in a video posted on social networks on Sunday (4).

In a later publication, he also promised a response to Iran: “Israel will respond to the Houthi attack against our main airport and, at the moment and place we choose, to its Iranian terrorist chiefs.”

This retaliation began on Monday (5), when Israeli forces made a series of attacks against the Hodeidah port-the second largest in Yemen-and a nearby cement factory, killing at least one person and hurting another 35, according to the Ministry of Health.

The FDI said 20 of their fighters participated in this mission – the first Israeli attacks in Yemen in months – reaching dozens of Hodeidah targets and neighboring areas.

The Al-Masirah TV channel, run by the Houthis, said the Hodeidah port was hit at least six times and confirmed the attack on the nearby cement factory.

The FDI claimed that Hodeidah’s maritime port is used for the transfer of Iranian weapons, military equipment and other terrorism -related needs. ”
