An Israeli strike in southern Lebanon on Wednesday night killed five Hezbollah fighters, including the son of a senior member of the group.
Two Hezbollah sources and a third source told Reuters they were killed in the village of Beit Yahoun.
Among the victims is Abbas Raad, who was the son of Mohammad Raad, leader of Hezbollah’s political wing in Lebanon’s Parliament.
Hezbollah announced on Wednesday night the deaths of five people, bringing to 85 the total number of fighters killed since the start of the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East.
Israel and Hezbollah intensified fighting, with rocket launches on the Lebanese border, following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
In a statement, the Israeli military said that its fighter jets struck Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon and that its troops and aircraft destroyed two cells that fired at its army.
The Israeli military did not comment on the information that several people were killed, nor did it specify the location of the attack.
