Iran’s embassy in Lebanon accused Israel of crossing “all limits” after an attack in southern Beirut on Friday (20) that destroyed at least one residential building and killed 12 people.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the Israeli folly and arrogance that crossed all limits by attacking residential areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut, which resulted in the martyrdom and injuries of dozens, including children and women,” the embassy said in a statement.
The statement called the attack a “terrorist” crime.
The Israeli military said the strike killed a senior Hezbollah soldier, Ibrahim Aqil, along with other members and leaders in the chain of command of the militant group’s elite unit.
Hezbollah did not comment on Israel’s accusations.
A multi-storey residential building collapsed in the Jamous area of Beirut’s suburbs following the attack, Lebanon’s Civil Defence said.
