Among the dead is one of the leaders of Hamas, Salah al-Arouri, second in the hierarchy of the movement after Ismail Haniya, as reported by the Reuters news agency, citing security officials.
The killing of Salah al-Arouri in Beirut was confirmed a little while ago by the leadership of the Palestinian Islamist movement.
Al-Arouri, 57, was killed in an Israeli drone strike on Hamas offices in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, along with two commanders of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the group's military arm, according to the same source.
Born in the West Bank in 1966, Salah al-Arouri has been a member of the Hamas politburo since 2010 and the movement's second in command after Ismail Haniya since 2017. He was also the leader of Hamas in the West Bank.
