An Israeli citizen transported to a war zone in southern Lebanon was killed by enemy fire on Wednesday, Netanyahu’s regional council said Wednesday night. The military said civilian Zeev “Jambo” Hanoch Ehrlich, 70, of Ofra, was serving as a reserve major and was killed in action in southern Lebanon. In the same incident that killed Ehrlich, another soldier was killed and an officer of the Golani brigade was seriously injured. He was taken to hospital for further medical treatment. Ehrlich was a well-known tour guide and expert on the archeology of the Land of Israel. In the same incident, one IDF soldier was killed and two others were wounded. Early evidence suggests that an officer from an Israeli Armed Forces battalion fighting in Lebanon brought Ehrlich to Lebanon despite not receiving proper permission from Northern Command officers, the Jerusalem Post reports.
