A parliamentary committee has begun today to discuss the bill that will impose an 80% tax on non -governmental organizations receiving most of their funding from foreign entities, with the aim of limiting foreign influence on the state. Under the bill, these NGOs will not have the right to appeal to Israeli courts, including the Supreme Court. The Israeli Treasury, however, will be able to grant them tax exemption. Taxation will be excluded from non -governmental organizations funded by the Israeli state and those with an annual turnover of below 100,000 sekel (about 27,000 euros). The discussion in the Committee of Constitution, Law and Justice of Kneset was at times intense.
