An Israeli court today upheld a government-imposed 35-day ban on Al Jazeera’s operations in Israel on national security grounds, and a minister said he hoped it would be extended for another 45 days after it expires next Saturday. On May 5, Israeli authorities raided a Jerusalem hotel room used as an office by Al Jazeera and said they were closing the business for the duration of the war in Gaza, accusing the broadcaster of inciting hostilities against Israel.
