Israeli Embassy employees are shot dead in Washington

Two employees of the Israeli embassy in Washington were killed on Wednesday night near the capital’s Jewish museum, US Secretary of Internal Security Kristi Noem said.

The information was released through a publication on Noem’s profile on social network X. The secretary said authorities investigate the cause of the murders.

DC police said they are investigating a shooting across the street of the FBI field office in Washington, which is near the museum. The Israeli embassy is working with the police authorities.

The Israeli ambassador was not involved in the incident and was not in place when the shooting happened, a spokesman told the embassy to CNN .

US Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a publication on social networks that she and US interim attorney Jeanine Pirro arrived at the scene of the shooting in front of the capital’s Jewish museum.

Ted Deutch, CEO of the American Jewish Committee, said his organization would hold an event at the museum on Wednesday night.

“We are devastated because an unspeakable act of violence occurred outside the place,” he said in a statement.

“Right now, while we await more police information about what exactly happened, our attention and our hearts are exclusively with those who have been harmed and their families,” he added.
