Israeli leaflets warn Palestinians to go to southern Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have dropped leaflets in the Sabrah neighborhood of the Gaza Strip that urgently warn residents to go south or face the possibility of being considered “a partner of the terrorist organization,” according to a translation of the CNN .

The leaflet says in Arabic:

“Urgent warning!
To residents of the Gaza Strip
His presence north of Wadi Gaza puts his life in danger
Anyone who chooses not to evacuate from the north of the Strip to the south of Wadi Gaza may be considered partners of the terrorist organization.
Israel Defense Forces”

The IDF confirmed it was responsible for the leaflets in a statement, adding that “there was no intention to consider those who were not evacuated from the affected combat area to be members of the terrorist group.”

The IDF “treats civilians as such and does not target them,” they said.

The forces told the CNN that the Arabic translation of the pamphlet that “spread online” was inaccurate, but did not provide further details.

The United Nations (UN) stated that the Israeli order to evacuate the entire population of northern Gaza, which is approximately 1.1 million people, is “impossible” without causing major humanitarian consequences.

There are currently 2.2 million people in Gaza.

According to the IDF, they continue to ask residents in northern Gaza to evacuate “for their own safety.”
