Israeli military says it attacked Syrian army targets in Golan Heights

Israeli tanks and artillery on Wednesday (10) hit Syrian Army targets that allegedly violated the 1974 demilitarization agreement in the Golan Heights area, according to Israeli military officials.

“The Israel Defense Forces holds the Syrian military accountable for all activities that occur within its territory and will not allow any attempts to violate Israeli sovereignty,” they stressed.

On Tuesday (9), an Israeli couple was killed by a Hezbollah rocket fired at the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The Lebanese armed group said the attack was in retaliation for the death of one of its members in Syrian territory.

Hezbollah began firing on Israel after its ally Hamas launched the Oct. 7 attack that sparked the Gaza war.

Tens of thousands of Israelis and Lebanese have been forced to leave areas close to the border between the two countries.
